Author: Hiawatha Project

Set within the context of an imagined near future, we follow the journeys of two seemingly unrelated couples:one immigrant couple fighting to reunite despite jails, red tape, and oppression, and one American couple struggling to break through personal and digital boundaries, both seen and unseen. Their paths collide in surprising, desparate, and sometimes hilarious ways as they break through borders of race, belief, and theatrical metaphor in search of loved ones lost behind the barbed wire of for profit jails. Infused with GPS maps, lost migrating birds, and star crossed lovers, Camino exposes the booming business of private immigrant detention centers in the U.S. and in doing so, illuminates question of survival and connectedness among human beings in our world.
